The families of Champagne Moutard Diligent have been living in the village of Buxeuil since the mid-17th century, and have a long tradition of both grape growing and wine production. Located in the Côte des Bar, the warmest sub-region of Champagne, the clay-limestone soils are checkered with kimmeridgian bands. This unique combination lends itself to rich, fruity Champagnes with a different minerality than those made from the chalkier subsoils of the Marne in the north. While they are technically registered as a negotiant, 85% of their production is from their estate vineyards (15% purchased fruit from neighboring growers).
100% Pinot Noir
The bulk of Moutard's production is made up of the NV Grande Cuvée Blanc de Noirs Brut, and the NV Rosé de Cuvaison Brut, both of which are cellar-aged for at least three years. The vintage cuvée 6 Cépages, which is cellar-aged for ten years, uniquely combines six of the appellation's seven indigenous grape varieties including Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Meunier, Pinot Blanc, Arbane, and Petit Meslier. For all wines, dosage hovers around 10 gr/l. The resulting wines are crowd-pleasing, consisent, and among the greatest values in the region. Champagne Moutard IS your go-to value!
